Public Statement - Essington Parish Council
It is with disappointment that we have to announce, our much-loved Essington Old School Tea Rooms, based at the Community Centre will have to cease trading under Council control, on 31st March 2020. Sadly this will result in the existing loyal and hard-working staff being made redundant.

This decision has been forced upon the Parish Council by the incorrect manner in which it was set up. As a Parish Council, we are limited in what we can spend rate-payers money on, and commercial activities have to be funded under strict rules, and eligibility criteria, of which Essington Parish Council do not meet.

However, we do not want to dwell on the failings of the past Council!

Rather than the Tea Rooms having to close for good, and Essington lose this facility, it has been agreed by the Parish Council to encourage invitations from any individual, group of individuals or local businesses, in fact, any interested party, to make a proposal to re-open the tea rooms as soon as possible, using the existing facilities, either through lease or licence terms.

Although there will inevitably be some disruption and upset, this is an opportunity, both to start a new business venture, and for the village in general to keep our lovely Tea Room facility. Many people have commented that longer opening hours would be welcomed by parents and villagers alike and this may be the chance for the community to get them.

To register your interest in re-opening the tea rooms as a Business, Charity, or CIC, please send your proposals to the Parish Office as soon as possible before 1st April 2020, using the details below:
