ESSINGTON BOXING CLUB
***STATEMENT***

It is with great sadness that I arrived at Essington Community Centre this morning to find poster with a photograph of me and the words “Wanted Dead or Alive - For robbing Essington kids of their boxing club."

For clarification I would like to make it clear that Essington Parish Council have supported the Boxing Club one hundred percent and will continue todo so. I have met with Richie Carter on a number of occasions to discuss how we can move the club forward in terms of improved facilities, such as showers/changing rooms/admin office - in the form of a building extension to the rear of the gym. However, I was very surprised to hear, only last week of the clubs move despite our pending plans and offers of financial help to continue and develop the club.

It was estimated the cost of the project would be £40k - £50k - it had the FULL support of Essington Parish Council. Ten thousand pounds of which was available immediately to start the new build. The club has chosen to re-locate, as is their prerogative, despite our last ditch efforts on Friday to persuade them to stay, that offer still remains on the table.

Local Schools should be for local children...

Local Schools should be for local children. We want to end the practice of parents falsifying details in order to obtain a place at their chosen school. I want more Stringent Policies put in place by the Local Education Authority to insure school places are offered to children within the catchment area.

By signing you will be supporting our proposal to end the practice of some parents falsifying an address in order to get their child into their chosen school, which intern denies a place being given to a child living in the catchment area.
